Even though it may be impossible to recreate every element of the project management process in Excel Template Project Tracker, there are still some principles that should be followed. The use of Excel Template Project Tracker is only one tool that can be used to help managers track all aspects of their projects.
There are two primary components to any project, and these two components are the actual project and the accounting of all transactions that have occurred within the project. It is possible for a manager to lose track of these two components, and some people may even go so far as to completely replace the project and accounting processes with Excel Template Project Tracker. For these individuals, I strongly recommend that they simply get an application like the Microsoft Project or Basecamp Project Management Applications, which are extremely helpful tools in tracking their various projects.
Once the spreadsheet containing the project data has been used within Excel Template Project Tracker, the manager will find that they have at least some idea of what their projects are costing them. But while this is a very good way to start, it is still not the end all for project management. There are many other things that a manager can do to keep track of their projects, and managing projects is a very broad topic.
The most important thing that a manager should do is to understand the basics of the project management process. A great way to begin understanding this process is to begin by checking out the Microsoft Project library. If the manager is using Microsoft Project 2020 then there will be no problem since they have everything included with the project. Many managers may also already have applications like the Microsoft Project, Basecamp, Intuit QuickBooks, or Microsoft Publisher, and they will just need to download those programs and install them on their workstations.
Once the project is set up, there are many things that can be done to make it more efficient. Some of these things include moving folders from one area of the computer to another, making notes on the spreadsheet, and even taking screenshots of parts of the project that are difficult to understand. While the task of switching folders can be quite tedious, it can be accomplished fairly quickly. The manager should also keep in mind that sometimes other people may want to see the project folder, and they can do this by copying the folder onto a flash drive and putting it in another location that is easily accessible to the project manager.
Once the project has been completed, it is very important to keep the file details organized. While this is not the project itself, some managers choose to create a file of all of the project information to make it easier to keep track of the project. Again, the simple idea here is to move files from one place to another. Keeping a series of folders is a lot easier than moving entire files, but it is not impossible to use all of the files that are currently stored within the Excel Template Project Tracker application.
Finally, a project manager should monitor their projects. At the end of each day, the manager should take a look at the daily project dashboard and determine how the day went. This can be a difficult task to do if you are working with the same project for a long period of time, so it is generally recommended that the manager create a dashboard for each project that they manage. This can be done by simply going to the Dashboard tab within the dashboard, which will allow the manager to quickly see the daily progress of each project.
Using Excel Template Project Tracker is definitely not a replacement for an actual project management program. However, it is a useful tool for tracking a project and ensuring that all the files are being properly moved from one place to another. In addition, this will allow the manager to keep track of their daily progress as well.
