Tracking spending is easier with a spreadsheet. Many people have spreadsheets at home and the software that can make your own spreadsheet is fairly easy to find. However, once you have gotten the software up and running, then it can be much more difficult to stay organized and track your expenses.
Of course, not all of your expenses will be expense statements and some will be spending categories that you have created yourself, such as food and entertainment, which are also tracked. You will find that tracking expenses can be especially difficult if you have a busy lifestyle, and even the most organized person can make mistakes, especially when trying to make a spreadsheet.
One way to handle this is to use Google Sheets as a tracking system for your spending. This works by tracking each expenditure as it is entered on the spreadsheet. As you type, your name and other data for the account are automatically added to the spreadsheet for you.
The only problem with this method is that if you do not have all of your financial information in one place, then you may be putting together all of your expenditures into a single account and forget what category each account falls under. If you do not remember, then you have no way of remembering. In fact, if you use this method, you may spend more time trying to understand the spreadsheet than you did track your expenses!
The next option is to use an online spreadsheet that is based on Google Spreadsheets. These websites are easy to find, because there are plenty of them.
Once you have found a website that you like, simply type in the web address in the search engine of your choice, and find it. Most of the time, it will appear in the results. You may even be able to see some video demonstration of how the spreadsheet works, which will help make it much easier to use. The only downside to using an online spreadsheet based on Google Sheets is that it can take a long time to complete a project like this. A typical spreadsheet for tracking expenses will have to be updated every day or every couple of days, depending on how much you spend on daily spending. If you keep up with the updates, you can often find it is less time consuming to use the online version and save yourself some money.
The real benefit of the online spreadsheets is that they provide a standard way of tracking your expenses. They also have all the other features that you want, including automatic sending of transactions and checks to accounts, bill pay options, scheduled payments, as well as more flexibility in the file types that you can work with. In other words, it is a much easier way to spend your money!
