When I first started my career as a professional writer, one of the first things I learned was that you don’t put a lead tracking spreadsheet in your article marketing campaign. You might be tempted to think of lead tracking as a boring and mundane process; but I assure you that if you put it into your article marketing campaign then it can become a very effective part of your overall marketing toolbox.
Your article marketing campaign is a money making machine when you implement it correctly but not when you implement it incorrectly. And when you do it incorrectly, you won’t realize it until you are off and running and your article marketing campaign goes belly up and you’re the one who has to figure out how to fix it. This is exactly what a lead tracking spreadsheet is going to do for you.
Lead tracking spreadsheets can keep track of all the leads that you get. All you have to do is to enter into your lead tracking spreadsheet all the information about your subscriber base and then your spreadsheet will tell you all the different ways that they found out about your offer. So, for example, you know they saw an article in the link bar of a website, they clicked on it and were directed to a landing page, or they stumbled upon your article by visiting some article directory and came across your article there. In any case, you will have a record of who referred your product.
All these leads are then sent to your autoresponder and after you receive a request for inbound links from these leads, you can go ahead and use a key word in your autoresponder to send them to your webpage. So, these will all be included in your lead-tracking sheet.
Now, in a campaign like I outlined above, you may not get as many inbound links as you need, but with a lead tracking spreadsheet you will be able to measure and see what has worked and what hasn’t worked for you. You’ll also be able to give yourself tips and suggestions to help you target your article marketing efforts more effectively, so you can ensure you are getting the best traffic possible.
For example, in one of my articles, I was generating articles that being keyword rich, but none of them had any keywords in the title or the body. That didn’t make any sense, but it didn’t really matter to me because the ones that did have the keywords were getting lots of inbound links. So, I checked the lead tracking spreadsheet and saw that the ones with the keywords in the title and the body did well, so I adjusted my title to have those keywords in it.
There were also two links in the body of the article that I wasn’t even using to generate articles with the keywords in them. So, I checked the spreadsheet and saw that those were showing up in the conversion tracking number and I changed them too. So, now I only have to do that for one link to have that number increased, and it can increase for another.
That’s a perfect example of what a lead tracking spreadsheet can do for you. So, get yourself a good one and start using it today.
