Sample Inventory Sheet

A Sample Inventory Sheet is a great way to take inventory of what is on hand at any time, and it doesn’t take much effort on your part. If you’ve been working in sales or marketing for any length of time, you’ve probably seen a multitude of stock inventory lists that are boring and repetitive. They are made up of brand names that have already been exhausted. No one ever buys the same thing twice.

Each of these lists can end up being so long that they literally become unwieldy, and can actually require you to make a mental note to go through the same thing over again when purchasing generic items. You may have even tried it and found the process to be boring. I know I was guilty of this at one point. Then, it occurred to me that if I wanted to spend more time getting a product to sell, I could create my own.

It sounds easy enough, but it’s definitely not. There are a lot of little details involved in order to come up with a useful inventory list that will actually sell your new product. For example, what is the average shelf life of the products that you plan to sell? What is the retail price? What about shipping and handling?

Can you get discounts on shipping? Will your new product to be offered in bulk, which would save you on shipping as well? Maybe you need a printer to make up a sample inventory sheet, and if you don’t have one, you may be able to get one at the store where you will be selling the product.

The drawback is that the sample inventory list that you create should reflect exactly what you intend to sell, which means it has to be exactly the same.

So what type of sample inventory should you use? This is up to you, but here are some ideas:

There are a lot of things to consider when creating a sample inventory, but the most important thing is to think about what you are trying to achieve. This could be a list of new products, or it could be a list of items that you already have that you can offer to others for a discounted price.
